Day tours in Cambodia

The Khmer or Cambodian country is still a very pristine one untouched and unpoluted with breathtaking monuments at Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom plus beautiful beaches with white and yello sand.

Some day tour attraction always includes rivers and islands without a infrastructure which makes them often an adventure trail popular are motorbike tours.

A day tour when in Phnom Penh and Phnom Chisor

This trip opens up the panorama of Takeo Province south of the capital. Phnom Chisor was created under King Suryavarman I. He reigned for 47 years from 1002 on. During his reign, 4 major temples were built. Among them the Preah Vihear in the north and Phnom Chisor in the south of today Cambodia.

The buildings of Phnom Chisor have been made as brick construction and sandstone lintels above the doorways and the wooden doors: Phnom Chisor was then known as Suryadri, 'the Mountain of the Sun' and due to the influence of Hinduism of that time, was dedicated to Brahma, 'the Creator of the Universe' but there are some Buddhist traces too.

Looking into the countryside via a coach tour.

The people and what is happening on the road shows the country in a different way as tourists see it around Angkor or in Phnom Penh. You just have to get a clean window seat, since this bring a high sitting position over the street which means an excellent viewpoint is guaranteed.

The only negative factor is that local people always try to close the curtains then it needs to reopen also against resistance sometimes. Some pretty places are south of Phnom Penh around Tonle Bati  and Phnom Chisor in Takeo province.

A peep into the countryside

When staying in Phnom Penh and want to make a quick day tour that’s the place to go because it shows the environment of the capital and parts of the countryside, in this case, the Takeo Province.

With low hills around plus wide and lazy streams, bizarre road travel, monasteries and a couple of Buddhist / Hindu temples about 50 km south of the big city. The first stop is at Tonle Bati.

The next stop  in Takeo province is a fascinating temple cluster on a hill, its Phnom Chisor. The temples have been done in beautiful masonry work and some inscriptions are dated back to the 11th. Century when the place was known as Suryagiri.

The temples of Phnom Chisor look quite similar to the Pagodas and Temples in Bagan, central Myanmar or Burma. The panoramic view from the hill over the plains of Takeo province is a breathtaking experience.
