Cambodia Beaches at the South China Sea
The main Cambodia beach waterfront is around Sihanoukville with 5 good sandy Ocean Fronts at the South China Sea and a few pristine islands further offshore. All waterfronts are at the South China Sea and with at least a minimum of infrastructure are not many. The waterfronts are the best example that there is more in the country beside of temples monument and Phnom Penh.
By far the busiest waterfront is Ochheuteal Beach in Sihanoukville
Actually, this is one seafront with two sectors, the first is a mixture of boulder and sand and the second almost totally sandy.
West of Ochheuteal is Sokha Beach with the best best resort resort in Sihanoukville.
Now what to do when you soaked enough sun in, the skin is red and you get a bit bored? Yes, do a day trip, since the distances between the locations are not as long and the main roads ok, what to do?
When around Sihanoukville or Koh Kong some interesting day trip are available into the vicinity. One day trip is to Sre Ambel and another one to Bokor National Park which is a 3-hour ride along the coast from Sihanoukville. The main road is a hard one with asphalt and buses big and small are driving along hourly. Actually, all this are at the 2 main roads from the coast to Phnom Penh.
Sokha Beach
Otres Beach
Also, the roads to the seafronts are real bad unless it is to the most popular at Sihanoukville there are only dirt roads. Even a tuk-tuk driver won't get you to one of the better China Sea fronts such as Otres beach because he would risk damaging his vehicle.
All waterfronts are at the South China Sea and with at least a minimum of infrastructure are not many. This Cambodian Beaches are the best example that there is more in the country beside of temples monument and Phnom Penh.
Below is Paklong waterfront at Koh Kong
The beachfront is very near to the road from the Thai border to Koh Kong City. The main road is a good one but after the intersection to the sea it's just a bad dirt road for about 2 km. The white sand strip is real pristine with millions of small shells laying around which is a good indicator if it's untouched or not.
There are a few clubs and discos most in the catering mainly to the local people there are no tourists. The only foreigners around are daytripper for a visa run from Thailand and some other who are continuing to Phnom the next day on Thai visa matters.Make a day trip to Sre Ambel or Bokor National Park
Choosing Bokor you need to book a tour because this is under Military control and you won't be allowed to enter on your own. For Sre Ambel there is no problem, just take a bus, car or motorbike (be extremely careful) and start. It is possible to leave the bus as Sre Ambel and trying to get a motorbike taxi into the wilderness.
